Rizal Ramli optimistik, apabila dimaksimalkan dalam dua sampai tiga bulan mendatang, suplai bawang putih dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia dapat memenuhi kebutuhan dalam negeri.
“Selain itu, ini juga kesempatan yang baik bagi fakultas-fakultas pertanian terutama IPB (Institut Pertanian Bogor) untuk mengembangkan riset mengenai kualitas tanah yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan juga kuantitas panen bawang putih” urai Rizal.
Dia memperkirakan, untuk waktu yang cukup lama produk-produk holtikultura dari Republik Rakyat China (RRC) yang sebelum ini cukup banyak di pasar Indonesia aka kurang diminati.
“Penyebaran virus Corona baru dari Wuhan kelihatannya akan melahirkan sentimen negatif pada sayur dan buah dari China, bisa jadi sampai setahun setelah vaksin untuk virus ini ditemukan” ujarnya lagi.
Bukan hanya sayur dan buah, barang-barang pabrikasi lain dari China juga mengalami nasib serupa di Indonesia.
